About Josh Gray

Meet Josh

Strong Parks. Stong Community

Born and raised in Simi Valley and the third generation to call this place home, Josh is well-versed in his understanding of the community. His parents raised him with values of service – his mother a public school teacher and his father a veteran-turned-small-business-owner. This service-above-self value instilled by his parents has directed Josh’s attention to the Parks District. Simi Parks has made an impact on Josh throughout his life from pickup basketball at Lemon Park to hiking at Corriganville on the weekends.

Josh started working at age 14 for his grandparents’ Simi Valley business. While working and going to school, he achieved his rank of Eagle Scout. He continued his education locally, earning his Economics degree at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. While in college, he circumnavigated the globe with Semester at Sea, following his interest in seeing the world. He then continued his journey with a demanding job at the White House. Josh returned home to Simi Valley to become a co-founder of a small business, now currently working in the aerospace industry. He’s served the world and the community, and he’s ready to get involved with Simi Parks.

Josh is running for Simi Parks because he knows the value of what the Parks District does. Our open spaces not only preserve our increasing property values, but they provide us with places for our families to gather and views to call home. Josh recognizes the under-appreciated utility of before- and after-school care. With more families working than ever before, he wants to foster programs that nourish and support young children during work hours. Finally, he wants to increase programming and accessibility to the Recreation Center programs that increase quality of life and community engagement. Josh remembers fondly the community involvement surrounding his own experiences through recreation center programs, and he wants to provide that for all people in the district and Simi Valley to enjoy.
